With around six million Australians aged 60 and above (according to the Australian Government’s June 2023 Population Profile), the demand for personalised aged care services and innovative aged care solutions has never been greater.
In a time when we need to redefine how our aged care sector supports senior Australians to age with dignity, happiness, and tailored care, Exceptional Care for You is emerging as a beacon of compassionate, joyful, and personalised aged care services.
“We have a simple approach; we believe everyone just wants to be seen, heard, valued and have fun. We aim to bring joy to every visit. Our team has as much fun delivering support as our amazing clients have in receiving it,” said Aged Care Co-ordinator at Exceptional Care, Tom Rendle.
“Delivering aged care services is a privilege, not a job. I’m proud to work with a values-driven organisation that places clients and team members way ahead of profit,” said Tom.
Why care standards aren’t meeting the pub test
There are many reasons why Australia’s aged care standards do not meet community needs or expectations.
Firstly, older people are not loud. They’re less inclined to ‘cause bother,’ and even when they want to make a stand, their age-related issues often get in the way.
Secondly, a seismic shift in how our society functions means many working families simply don’t have the capacity to care for older relatives. Neighbour relationships are often superficial or non-existent. The historical presence and role of the church in providing community support has lessened
The challenge facing for-profit providers of personalised aged care services
Most care for the 273,306 older Australians receiving a Home Care Package through My Aged Care is delivered by for-profit providers (Source: Australian Government Home Care Packages Program, Data Report, June 2024.) While these services are monitored, necessity dictates that they adopt a for-profit approach to providing care. This can influence providers’ capacity to recruit, train and support staff to deliver adaptive and individualised care.“Aged and disability care is one of Australia’s largest employment growth areas, and it’s imperative we get this care right,” said Tom.
The key to providing exceptional care
“The aging process is different for everyone,” explains Di Geddes, Director of Exceptional Care For You, with over sixty years of nursing experience. ‘We spend time getting to know all our participants as individuals so we can tailor their care personally for them.”
The Exceptional Care for You team works closely with every client to ensure they and their carers match perfectly. ‘We love to watch amazing relationships develop,” said Tom Rendle.
As a team, we passionately believe that ageing does not have to take your individuality away. And if you need care and want to stay home, we will do our best to assist you.”
“Furthermore,” Di adds, “We don’t just care for our clients, we care for their whole family.”
From companionship to palliative care Exceptional Care for You provides a complete range of services, from companionship to helping people prepare for palliative care.
“We can also provide in-home palliative care that helps ensure that people have the death they want,” said Di.
Exceptional Care for You has provided exceptional support in the disability sector since {insert date}. Now Di, Tom and their team are excited about increasing their current 30% ratio of aged care participants and delivering more of their joyful, compassionate care to older Victorians.
